Group Tax - Global Controversy Lead

Group Tax is responsible for all aspects of DNV’s tax strategy and management and works holistically towards the broader regulatory landscape.
Being a truly global company with operational presence in more than 80 countries and large volumes of cross-border transactions, DNV has a large number of processes with local tax authorities at various levels administratively and in the court systems around the world.
Group Tax is looking to fill a role as Global Controversy Lead with a main focus on our international tax controversy portfolio. You will have tax controversy as your main task. We aim at efficient governance and management of the overall portfolio with special attention to our high priority cases. You will therefore work both on single-case handling, portfolio management, and further developments of our models and processes related to tax controversy. This will be in close collaboration with our regional tax managers in Global Shared Services, topical experts in Group (for instance within transfer pricing and indirect tax), Business Area representatives, and external legal advisers.
You can expect to be involved also in other tasks than tax controversy. We run and participate in a variety of multi-disciplinary projects and processes. For any activity, finding and implementing solutions that are optimal for DNV’s overall interest and total financial effectiveness is key to us. You will be expected to give clear and specific advice where practical and formal considerations are balanced. Cost-benefit thinking in combination with professional expertise and integrity is essential.
We are 9 people in Group Tax. Our tax team in Global Shared Services counts another 30 specialists in global- and regional hubs. Together we manage tax in all the jurisdictions where DNV has a presence or does business.
We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:
Master’s degree in law or in audit and accounting
Minimum 8-10 years' experience as a tax lawyer, in-house tax legal counsel or similar
Extensive experience within international corporate tax from a legal and/or accounting perspective
Experience with, and interest in, controversy case handling, including managing external legal advisers
Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
Personal skills:
Ability to work independently, collaborate easily with colleagues, and manage multiple projects effectively. Strong analytical skills and ability to assess complex issues and deliver sound, timely and rational judgments within deadlines
