Legal Counsel, Hydro REIN

Hydro REIN offers renewable energy solutions for cleaner and more sustainable industries. Our goal is to help our industrial clients take part in the energy transition. We facilitate access to affordable renewable power, which we will source from our own portfolio of hydro, solar and wind projects. Our current portfolio includes projects in Brazil and the Nordics. We also provide industrial scale energy solutions to improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions and cut costs inside the fence, to our customers primarily in Europe. Hydro REIN is now looking to further strengthen our legal team of 7 employees with a Legal Counsel.

As Legal Counsel in Hydro REIN, you will join an industrial venture and play a pivotal part for a sustainable future. Hydro REIN currently has offices in Norway, Brazil and the Netherlands.

Areas of responsibility

You will join a newly established and lean legal team which is responsible for management of all legal and compliance activities within the Hydro REIN group. As Legal Counsel, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing expert and strategic legal advice to our investment, project and finance teams and contribute to creating value for our business
  • Lead legal workstreams related to international renewable investments, projects and financing and coordinate related internal decision processes
  • Deal with complex, significant matters that cut across legal and related areas
  • Manage and coordinate external legal advisors and relations to investment partners
  • Draft and negotiate agreements that minimize risks and maximize legal rights
  • Deal with complex, significant matters that cut across legal and related areas
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations and company policies
  • Support the team in developing and implementing governance and compliance policies and procedures for the group and its business, and in maintaining and developing the group legal structure

Qualifications

  • Legal degree and admission to practice as a lawyer
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience from recognized Norwegian or international law firm and/or relevant corporates
  • Experience from legal work related to transactions, project development, contracts, compliance, corporate governance and/or renewable investments is preferable
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written. Norwegian and/or Portuguese is an advantage
  • Ability to work both individually and as part of a team, with both internal and external stakeholders with diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Uncompromising integrity
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and "can do" attitude
  • Value-driven, with high focus on collaboration

Additional Information

This role reports to the Chief Legal Officer in Hydro REIN. The position will be located in Oslo, Norway, or in the Hague / Rotterdam area in the Netherlands.
