DNV Group Tax is looking to fill a vacant role as Tax Legal Counsel / Tax Adviser to have a special focus on our international tax controversy portfolio

Group Tax is a section within the Group Finance and Legal unit that supports DNV top management in the areas of accounting, tax, legal, performance management, cash management, internal audits and M&A.

As a member of Group Tax, you will work closely with finance and legal professionals in Group Finance and Legal, Business Areas and our Global Shared Services teams.

Group Tax’ area of responsibility includes tax strategy setting, tax expense analysis, transfer pricing policies and management principles, tax in commercial processes, tax authority reporting processes, tax scrutiny and controversy processes, corporate restructurings, M&A processes and general tax risk management.

You will have tax scrutiny and controversy as your main task. We aim at efficient governance and management of the overall portfolio with special attention to our high priority cases. You will therefore work on both single-case handling, portfolio management and further developments of our models and processes related to tax controversy. This will be in close collaboration with our regional tax managers in Global Shared Services, topical experts in Group (for instance within transfer pricing and indirect tax), Business Area representatives and external legal advisers.

You can expect to get involved also in other tasks than controversy: We run and participate in a variety of multi-disciplinary projects and processes. For any activity, finding and implementing solutions that are optimal for DNV’s overall interest and total financial effectiveness, is key to us. You will be expected to give clear and specific advice where practical and formal considerations are captured and balanced. Cost-benefit thinking in combination with professional expertise and integrity is essential.

We are 7 people in Group Tax. Our tax team in Global Shared Services counts another 29 tax specialists in global and regional hubs. Together we manage tax in more than 80 countries.

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and skills:

  • Master in Law or Master in Audit and Accounting
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a tax adviser, lawyer, in-house legal counsel or similar
  • Extensive experience within international corporate tax from a legal or/and accounting
  • Experience with and interest in controversy case handling, including managing external legal advisers
  • Ability to work independently and approach DNV colleagues easily
  • Ability to analyze complex business issues and come up with sound and rational judgments
  • Excellent analytical skills, target and performance driven
  • A broad business appreciation and willingness to become involved in aspects of the business beyond financial and legal management
  • Positive attitude, customer centric mind-set and willingness to go the extra mile to meet organizational goals
  • Ability to accomplish work within deadlines without considerable direction
  • Ability to lead and show progress on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Effective interpersonal skills; excellent English written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive, ability to provide resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity
