As a Legal Counsel at AFS you'll have to following responsibilities:
Providing (corporate) legal support for internal and external contracts;
Providing legal advice on a wide variety of (international) topics with a legal aspect;
Assessing new business models/solutions, assessing end-user solutions and interface
Drafting, reviewing, implementing and filing a variety of documents;
Supporting the management of the Local Units and acting as sparring partner to the international Legal team and the (inter)national colleagues;
Answering questions of colleagues, for example regarding consumer law, business law and contract law.
Represent the organization in legal topics; you'll be the contact person for the FSA and other third parties;
Check new upcoming legislation and advice the organization on possible impact at the business model;
Qualities:
Master in Law is required
Legal professional with 2-5 years of hands-on experience
Experience in banking and finance legal area or comparable profession
Experience with the legal framework of debt collection and e-commerce is a plus
Well-developed legal, drafting and advisory skills; able to explain complex topics in an easy way
Commercial thinking and working
Ability to work both independently and in teams, able to handle a challenging and dynamic environment

In January 2022, AFS launched a new strategic direction and a new, functional organization designed around three business areas was put in place. These business areas are: 3rd Party Debt Collection & Dept Purchase, Order-to-Cash and Buy Now Pay Later. In everything we do, we have the human centric focus and our aim is to make the complex simple.
In conjunction with the commencement of AFS' new journey, also the AFS Legal Function has set new sails, and is about to transform in line with the needs of the new strategic direction and the new functional organization. This calls for additional legal resources and competencies.
AFS's Legal Function consists of approximately 30 lawyers, based throughout Europe and headed by a General Counsel based in Germany and a management team with members based in Germany, Norway, Sweden and Finland.
