As the regulatory landscape for international insurance providers like Gard gets increasingly complex, the role of corporate lawyers plays a crucial part in the interface between business, strategy and the law.

To further strengthen Gard’s Group Legal department in Arendal, we are now looking for a lawyer to join the team. Working in the Gard legal team offers you the opportunity to work in an international organization, within maritime law, that is complex and challenging, all in the South of Norway. As a corporate lawyer in Group Legal, you will play an essential role in ensuring that the Gard group achieves its objectives in compliance with applicable laws and regulations globally.

You will have the opportunity to work with all central business units and provide advice on a variety of complex legal issues within several different areas of law, including:

  • insurance law
  • maritime law
  • corporate law
  • contract law
  • financial crime (AML/CTF, sanctions, corruption)

You will also be involved in the corporate secretary functions of the Gard group.

With a large variety in the job, you will need to thrive in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment, where no two days are the same. You will work with highly engaged and knowledgeable colleagues in Arendal and many of Gard’s worldwide offices, including Oslo, London, New York, Singapore, Tokyo, Bermuda and Hong Kong.

The successful candidate will report to the General Counsel and form part of the Group Legal function.

The successful candidate will have a master’s degree in law with excellent academic results. Work experience within a law firm or as in-house counsel would be an advantage but no requirement.
